We are fully compliant with the Care Act 2014, the Children Act 1989 (where applicable), and local safeguarding board guidance.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <h2>1. Our commitment<\/h2>\r\n  <p class=\"dark-fn\"><strong>Oaktree Homecare<\/strong> is committed to safeguarding the wellbeing and dignity of all individuals receiving our care. We operate a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of abuse and are dedicated to creating a safe environment for our clients, staff, and the wider community.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <h2>2. Who this policy applies to<\/h2>\r\n  <p class=\"dark-fn\">This policy applies to all <strong>Oaktree Homecare<\/strong> staff, including care workers, administrative personnel, volunteers, and contractors. It also informs our service users, their families, and representatives about our safeguarding responsibilities and procedures.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <h2>3. What is safeguarding?<\/h2>\r\n  <p class=\"dark-fn\">Safeguarding is the process of protecting adults at risk from abuse or neglect. An adult at risk is someone aged 18 or over who:<\/p>\r\n  <ul>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Has needs for care and support (whether or not the local authority is meeting those needs)<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Is experiencing, or is at risk of, abuse or neglect<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Is unable to protect themselves against the abuse or neglect or the risk of it<\/li>\r\n  <\/ul>\r\n\r\n  <h2>4. Types of abuse<\/h2>\r\n  <p class=\"dark-fn\">Abuse may include (but is not limited to):<\/p>\r\n  <ul>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Physical abuse<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Emotional or psychological abuse<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Sexual abuse<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Neglect and acts of omission<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Financial or material abuse<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Discriminatory abuse<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Organisational abuse<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Domestic abuse<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Modern slavery<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Self-neglect<\/li>\r\n  <\/ul>\r\n\r\n  <h2>5. Responsibilities of Oaktree Homecare<\/h2>\r\n  <ul>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Ensure all staff receive safeguarding training appropriate to their role<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Implement safe recruitment practices, including enhanced DBS checks<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Respond immediately and appropriately to safeguarding concerns<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Maintain accurate and confidential safeguarding records<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Report safeguarding concerns to the relevant local authority or emergency services when necessary<\/li>\r\n    <li class=\"dark-fn\">Collaborate with Local Authority Safeguarding Adults Boards (SABs) and other relevant bodies<\/li>\r\n  <\/ul>\r\n\r\n  <h2>6. Confidentiality<\/h2>\r\n  <p class=\"dark-fn\">All safeguarding concerns are treated with sensitivity and in strict confidence. However, we may be required to share information with statutory authorities where a risk of harm is identified.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <h2>8. Training and awareness<\/h2>\r\n  <p class=\"dark-fn\">All staff receive mandatory safeguarding training on induction and annual refreshers. Additional role-specific safeguarding training is provided for senior staff and designated officers.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <h2>9. Whistleblowing<\/h2>\r\n  <p class=\"dark-fn\"><strong>Oaktree Homecare<\/strong> supports a culture where staff and service users feel confident in raising concerns. Whistleblowing about safeguarding failures can be made confidentially. Staff are protected under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998.<\/p>\r\n\r\n  <h2>10. Policy review<\/h2>\r\n  <p class=\"dark-fn\">This policy is reviewed annually or sooner if legislation or regulatory guidance changes.
